Online counterfeiters deceive consumers with authentic looking websites and marketplace stores that generate massive revenue. Seized domain data confirms that counterfeit sites receive millions of visitors, and payment provider data confirms that the sites generate significant sales. Online counterfeit stores are a significant threat to famous brands.
GBC has been the top filer of U.S. trademark infringement lawsuits for the past 5 years, including 200+ cases filed in 2020 against online counterfeit stores. Since we have created much of the precedent for litigation against China-based online counterfeit stores, we have unparalleled knowledge of the relevant law. We also continue to enhance our program by leveraging technology with manual searching by U.S. based investigators to maximize the number of targets and recoveries.
GBC’s litigation model is largely cost positive or cost neutral. After a few rounds of litigation, there are significant reductions in counterfeit listings. The program is fast, effective and highly attractive to brands looking for cost neutral or cost positive anti-counterfeiting strategies.

The Media and Advertising Psychology (MAP) Lab focuses on the study of media and advertising using biopsychological approaches, methods, and theories. The MAP lab comprises a consortium of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students with multi-disciplinary focus, including: health communication, advertising and marketing communication, social media, retailing, media multitasking, and counterfeit consumer education, to name a few.
