COVID-19 and Brand Protection Practices

We asked our readership

“How did the COVID-19 pandemic specifically affect your brand protection practice?

Not surprisingly there were pullbacks and shifts in resourcing-how do these reflections compare to what you’re experiencing?

From the electronics industry…

“We are fortunate that our budget hasn’t been impacted however we know that law enforcement priorities have changed which will impact our seizure numbers.”

“Open headcount requisitions were placed on hold.”

From the pharmaceuticals industry…

“Had to cease many investigations that were in the process and reallocate/prioritize responsibilities on COVID initiatives. All resources were directed towards COVID activities, ceased all law enforcement training, addressed concerns centered around products used to fight COVID, and all face-to-face time was lost for partnering/networking, and working cases.”

“Limited physical investigations, Limited court/trial appearances, limited market surveys, limited implementations of product security features, significantly change travel schedule, increase online monitoring, increase protection for impacted products/brands.”

From the sports equipment industry…

“Much reduced enforcement action, and reduced budgets by rights owners.”
